* Rain, mountain snow, and wind will be on the increase for the Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies tonight
* Snow will accumulate around 5 inches above 3500 foot elevations in the northern Rockies to over a foot of snow for the Cascades as snow levels there descend to 2000 feet
* While forecast amounts are not extraordinary for these areas, the winds will be of greater impact. Gusts of up to 60 mph will create widespread blowing of even light accumulations.
* Northwest highs on Friday will range from the 20s in the higher elevations of the Cascades to to the 30s and 40s in the valleys. Highs will reach the 50s in Nevada and Utah and climb into the 60s and 70s from southern California to New Mexico
MIDWEST:
* Dry through Friday
* Gusty breezes on the increase from the Central Plains to the Great Lakes where gusts could could top 30 mph
* Mild temperatures expected across the region again through Friday
* Highs will reach the 40s from the Northern Plains to the Great Lakes to the 60s in the Ohio Valley to the Central Plains

* Highs will mainly be in the 60s across the South with 70s nearer the Gulf Coast and low 80s in deep south Texas
